the freaky china man

OMG!! i must tell you all about this freaky china man that i have -ENCOUNTERED- in hospital..

*takes a deep breath*

OK CASE 1: it started off with my friend christina innocently having lunch by herself in the staff cafeteria while waiting for my other friend john, who was in the bathroom taking a massive dump. so while she was sitting there alone, having a lunch.. THE CHINA MAN (TCM) showed up and started talking to her all of a sudden, out of the blue!! and he refused to leave her alone. and he was being very pesky.. at least.. he looks pesky to me. and oily. and greasy. and then when john came back from his dump, he left her alone.

CASE 2: my friends and i were having lunch. (this was a separate day) and then this other girl went to the vending machine to go get coffee.. and then all of a sudden TCM sprung out of the shadows and started talking to her!! he was probably lurking around looking for innocent victims to start talking to. at this time, we were just leaving and so christina and i decided to make an executive decision to try and -SAVE HER- and then we marched up to her and went, "HIIIIII. what tute do you have on later!!???" in a rather exaggerated, over enthusiastic manner.. and TCM went away. BUT out of the -CORNER OF MY EYE- i could see him lurking around the periphery waiting for us to leave. and when christina and i had exhausted our list of random polite conversation questions and turned to leave, TCM POUNCED AGAIN!! and we were like OH NO. :(

and so, we have come up with a theory.

THIS PERSON only approaches chinese girls who are by themselves in the caf and starts chatting them up in his very greasy manner.

*he really is very oily*

and i have been trying to dodge him ever since i first noticed his lurki-ness just like we tried to dodge the leonganna in sec 1. i think all that training then has proven very effective.

hey dears, im in shanghai now... and getting internet access from my friend's place. haha.

ZENGO i hope you like your bdae present! hahaha you guessed it right, i chose the bracelet and hy chose the (childish) necklace. HAHAHA.

sigh... i am sleepy. going to sleep soon i guess... lessons here in shanghai are a farce seriously. like, the chinese modules are way too difficult, i dont understand anything that's going on at all. and the eng module is a joke. and the native chinese are smart... they work hard too. remember all the china scholars in sec sch? they come to sg all blur but walk away with the english A1s and of course A1s for all other subjects. HAHA. so basically im in hot soup. hahaha. how ah. :(

the weather is great here though. it's really super cold. ahhahaha. but i hate the rain though... ... ... ... ... it really dampens your spirit. haha

btw... GUO JUNNAN is staying in the same condo as me, and the same block to boot! hahahaha! she saw me when she walked into the lift. how coincidental! hahaha :D she's been here for half a year already :D haha. anyway... i feel my brain going all soft and my english going all chui. :/

as you all know, im a lazy person. i just checked the orange book. even though i had the orange book for the longest time, my last entry was in 2007 and all of you have written at least once since my last entry even though most of you weren't even in s'pore. i'm sorry. but i can't help it.

just had a steamboat dinner with lorenda and we decided it would be our last together. ha i have an advice for all of you: never eat steamboat with lorenda cos you will end up having to eat most of the food. i was so full that i couldn't bend forward cos when i did, (sorry to be disgusting) swallowed food returned to my mouth.

but i was still glad to have met up with lorenda. it's my turn to be left in s'pore. i hope this sem passes quickly and i'll be able to see all of you again.

haha i had a conversation with either huiyan or vivian and commented that this blog is becoming like zengo's personal blog! however, i don't really mind since zengo is very entertaining.. regardless of whether you're whining about homesickness or weird and lazy japanese lecturer. that's the zengo we all know and love (to bully). :D

anyway, all the best for your exams woman, though i think most of it would have been over by now. by the way, is it possible for you to get me some green tea pocky on your way back? haha i'll pay you for it! remedy for homesickness... haha i think the best remedy is either not to think about home at all by thinking about how scary it is to download stuff now in singapore, or to think about the number of people wishing to bully you when you're back. :D the other alternative is to think about home so hard that you get sick of thinking about it. i'm not sure if the second option works though. HAHA.

and i'm blogging. haha

i have a paper tmr but we can refer to our hand-written notes.. so i hope it won't be too bad. i haven't really finished studying. haha how screwed am i. and then i've got 4 more reports to complete and a total of 5 exams, of which 3 are this week and the other 2 are spread over the next 2 weeks. not bad i would say considering that i know somebody who has 4 exams tmr. yes, in one day.

and yes i need to say something about one of my lecturers. he's probably lecturing only because he needs to... let me tell you how brilliant his last lesson was (i'm actually taking 2 of his modules this sem. BIG mistake.)

for wed, he didn't come (ok he didn't come for fri's lecture as well). but to make things better, he asked his teaching asssistant to show us a FRENCH documentary with NO subs. yay! best manz. we were given handouts with the japanese translations but umm yah. you get the idea. we totally understood the video.

ok but i should be really grateful for him changing his exams to reports instead... cause i totally didn't understand what he was talking about during lessons... you know how some lecturers just go on and on and on without making a point... i was kind of relieved to know that the japanese taking the same lectures were not understanding either. at least i'm not in the shit alone haha

anyway can't wait for exams to be over and then i can go home! haha actually i've still got a cca camp but i'm thinking whether i should pay 30,000 yen and go (and maybe not be doing anything) or should i just spend those 3~4 days on other things... like shopping. hahaha.. i have realized that i have spending urges during exam periods. umm may i just mention casually that i have splurged on another pair of birks...

yes you may kill me now. but i really like the new pair too haha if that helps ^_^ you know why i got it. and i was talking to lorenda online the other day and showed her another pair of shoes i was looking at that i wanted to get... but will not get. haha i need to curb my spending (and that's probably the nth time you're hearing/reading it)

anyway just the other night... umm day before yesterday... my clock suddenly fell from where it was hanging while i was sleeping... and then it really scared the hell out of me and i started thinking about what if an earthquake suddenly hit... and i couldn't sleep well anymore after that... all the muscles in my body never recovered from the trauma of the falling clock that night and i had shoulder muscle ache the whole of the next day... and today. yay.

and i seriously need to clean up my apartment.

i didn't know that even newspapers could remind you of home when you're away in another country...

i was reading "the straits times" in my school library the other day (yes!! they have it in kyoto university's library! >.<) and just being able to read the newspapers from home just as if it were a newspaper (as compared to the online version where you have to sit in front of the computer and strain your poor little eyes all already tired from a days work just to read it... ok not that i do that but yah you get the idea)... omg i didn't know that reading the newspapers from home, no matter how it compares with other newspapers, just reminds you of home... and i didn't know it could feel so good just to read "the straits times" (i only used to read the life section, but that day, i read the whole newspaper and in fact, 2 sets!)

nothing much to update now. i still don't have an internet connection. It's damn irritating. (i realised a lot of things irritate me) and i've been running from house to house or library to library to sponge of people's internet connection. when my laptop detects wireless internet connections, there's this network that says: "get your own broadband, leeches!" so i can kind of get the hint. -.-

and btw... i cut my hair yesterday haha... i'm very happy with what the hairdresser did... and the service in japan is hell good manz! expensive though haha... but they're the real pros manz haha.. i ended up letting the hairdresser decide what to do with my hair while he consulted me from time to time like how long i would want my hair to be at the back while giving advice as well ^_^

this salon starts by asking you to fill up a form where you tick what kind of image you want to give.. whether you want an image change.. what kind of hair you have (whether you have stubborn hair that doesn't go where you want it to be kind of thing) and various other questions.. including whether you want your massage to be with more pressure or less!! and whether you want your scalp to experience more pressure or not during your shampoo~~~ ahhh damn good service! though the massage was only like 1 min haha but i think they really take good care of their customers ^_^ and i can't say enough of how happy i am with the hair cut.. haha even though lorenda prefers my very first short hair cut i had the year before last..

anyway i'm sure you women are curious to see how my new hair cut looks... so here haha..

haha why hasn't anyone (except zengo) been updating the blog?? haha then again, if most of you had as crazy a term as i had, i'm not surprised.. i can't believe 11 weeks in london has just flew by like that! firstly, sorry for mia-ing. had been really busy with school work and OCF. haha i realise that actually the more you know, it doesn't mean the less work you do, cos knowing more makes you question more and thus makes you work even harder. maybe that's why i seem to be spending so much more time doing my essays now than last year.

anyway, thanks for the update on your life zengo! haha i agree, the atm situation is quite ridiculous! haha so much for convenience! but i guess that's good in some sense, cos you probably will only need money that desperately that late at night to drink/visit host clubs/visit gay bars/buy cigarettes/buy drugs, so not being able to withdraw cash will dissuade you from doing all that. hang on a minute, do they accept cards in these venues?? hmmm... i don't suppose you will know right zengo... if you do, what have you been doing man??

haha yes, and for all the high-tech phones, phones do sound very expensive there. however, i think i would kill to have one of those phones man. the only clamshell phones that i really like are the ones that can be used in japan. however, if it's going to cost that much, haha i think i'll rather stare at the phone on my computer screen since i'm not going to understand how to use it anyway. haha tell us more zengo! have you started to speak like them already and doing all the kawaii stuff? tell us more!

hello guys... i have succumbed... i now have internet in my room.. slow (ok not that slow but slower than the school's) and unstable as it may be, you never appreciate being able to use the internet in your nice comfy room until you have gone through days without being able to... and so i am happy and contented with my slow and unstable internet i have gotten. ^_^

i would like to give myself the excuse that it's because there's an increase in research work that needs to be done and it's getting too cold to keep on going down to the computer room to use the wireless internet... but we all know that those reasons are just to justify my dying need to watch taiwan drama and variety shows on youtube.. but then again seriously, research work has really increased. so yes. i got internet. so much for saying that i wouldn't succumb for the past 6+ months. ha. ok.. you can start laughing your heads off now.

anyway, shunling thank goodness the royal mail has stop their strike... i finally received your mail yesterday! yay!!! *\^.^/* and i shall now answer your call for information on my life in japan..(shunling says i haven't told you guys much about my life here actually.. and now that she's mentioned it.. yes i realise that i haven't really told you guys much about japan actually)

for one thing.. it's been a long time already but have i told you guys that the atm machines here aren't 24/7? and contrary to common belief, japan is no where near convenient.. at least not when compared to singapore. anyway more about the atm machines here.. guess what? they have operating hours!! and you actually have to pay administration fees when you withdraw money after the operating hours!!!!!! atms are machines for goodness sake!! yes.. and it has caused me much pain when i realise that i run out of cash during the weekends. even 6 months on i'm still facing that trouble. singapore's too convenient. =_=

and yes phones here are freakingly expensive. unlike singapore where you have free phones if you sign on, here i think they have no idea what free phones are. there's only such thing as cheap. not free. and their cheap phones cost at least the equivalent of S$120. yay.

anyway i think this is too long an entry already... sorry i haven't had internet in my room for a long time haha.. and yes i was depressed the whole of last week and i'm so sorry for making you guys worry but i'm all happy now ^_^ so don't worry!! and i cleared up some stuff with my other singaporean friend here, so we're on pretty good terms now.... and i have realised that i'm extremely childish. so i shall attempt to grow up. haha..

hello darlings =) i have decided to stop my laziness *gasp* and write in here. I was starting to get a bit confused with all the emails flying around. maybe i just suck. haha.

anyway, yes hui yan! harry potter was damn damn nice!! oh gosh.. like I said, I didn't do anything else other than read it for the past 2 days or so. I got it on tuesday afternoon I think.. and I couldn't put it down. There were so many heart-wrenching moments. ARGH Lorenda hurry up and finish reading it please! =) I'm really bursting. I'm very sad though.. no more books. It was a fantastic series though. I totally enjoyed reading it. Which was your favourite book? I think this 7th one has become my favourite. It was the most emotion-provoking I think. I loved the first and third ones too. The 5th one was irritating. I wanted to kill harry myself for being so whiny. The movie was good though.. I enjoyed it because harry wasn't all whiny. clearly I'm being rather unsympathetic, but hehe. That was an annoying read. I was so irritated at the end of the book. Actually the 4th one was really nice too. Ok they were all nice.. except the 5th one.

Sorry I'm being so incoherent.. I'm just really excited after reading this book. Even during my break, I was sitting in the international students' lounge reading it, completely oblivious to everything. there were all these conversations flying past me and I didn't even know what they were about. All I knew was that if someone mentioned the ending and I heard it, there would have been hell to pay...

my summer hols are coming up and as you know i'm going to hokkaido to meet my friends who i haven't met in 3-5 years.. and i'm staying at their places so i save on hotel haha and hopefully they'll provide a bit of meals so that i can save on that too ^_^ i'm sorry i won't be going back to singapore till next summer (which will be next aug i believe) so i probably won't be able to meet you, except for huiyan and lorenda... =_= i can't believe i won't be able to meet the rest of you for the next 4 and a half years unless i fly over to meet you (or you could fly over ^_^)

anyway just to update you guys... i am on the last week of my attachment at the su.bordi.na.te cou.r.ts, crim.in.alleg.al.aids.heme! no pay! it is a 3 week attachment.. it's fun... u get to interview applicants, do means testing to see if they qualify financially for legalaid, and then take statement... then recommend whether to grant aid or not... i liked it in the first week, very fun. those on bail come to our office, and we go to those who are remanded by making trips down to prisons and IMH! :D

the second week was boring because we learnt the ropes already... but now's the last week so i have to treasure it...:(

hello women!!! haha i've finally uploaded pics onto facebook (rejoice!) haha cram's sch's bad... haha i keep on drifting off during class.. and end up being lost =_= i'm so dead.

hope ur exams are over by now.. if not jiayou still!! and oafie don't die doing your assignments kayz.. and iris!!!! u're mad!!!! don't lose ur toes kayz!!!!!!!! haha succumb! and iris if you're losing things from the fridge.. one of my classmates also had his ice-cream daifukus stolen and he was so pissed he bought another packet, finished everything but 1 piece and dipped the last one in the toilet bowl and put it back into the fridge.. you should try that too!! ^_^

i'm having golden week now.. which is actually just more than half a week of hols.. i only had 2 days of lessons!! ^_^ so i went on a shopping spree yesterday and got puma shoes for like 6,888yen (what an auspicious number right?).. but i love them haha so i hope they don't rot soon ^_^

i don't think i'll be returning to singapore this year... will prob be going back next year.. but my hols are in aug!!!! which means i won't be able to meet u guys!!!!! >.< or maybe there's winter/spring hols.. hmm i'll check it up and see if i can go back next winter or spring too.. but i think shd be summer next year lahz huh..
and now, yes as you have expected, the weather haha.. it's turning warm (it's like air-con temp now).. i can go around without a sweater now.. i don't want summer to come.. the insects are starting to come out. and there will be centipedes in summer. save me.

I haven't been back here in a while. How're you all doing? woman, you look like you're having lots of fun in Japan. When will you grace singapore with your presence again? or more likely, when will you go back so that we can bully you? (: hee aww I'm just kidding. I miss woman. (: (:

on to our favourite topic, the weather is so colddd! ): But I still wear slippers to school (: I REFUSE TO SUCCUMB! (: so I'll be bundled up in jackets and what not, but my toes feel like they will fall off. but that's ok. (: because it'll warm up in the afternoon. When winter comes, then we'll talk haha. but yes, the leaves are changing colour very slowly. shun and vivvy! when do the leaves change colour fully? it's the middle of autumn and it's still greeny-browny-reddy. i'm really sorry for missing your departure. was at some ulu place in uk (beautiful though) when i was reminded by vivian that you were gonna take off and could not do anything about it! anyway, i just want to say that i hope that you had a good flight to japan and am settling down well! how's all the japanese- speaking going on so far?

hello my darlings! (: I haven't been back here in a while, and I just thought I'd say hi and to say that I miss you all a lot!!

ZENGO! hope your packing is going well! It sucks!

Ok you are all probably wondering why I called zengo in a very pressing sos situation. if you aren't, just skip this paragraph (: ok so I know woman changed her email address and she sent it to the oteam yahoogroups, and me, being me, I assumed that by replying to that email, which I kept in my inbox, I would be replying to her. So I happily typed out this email that told about how I'm exercising more -.- and about my life here, and then to my absolute horror, I realised that I sent it to the entire yahoogroups. So I logged onto yahoogroups to try to do damage control and delete the message, thinking that by doing that, no one would be able to read it. Just to check, I called yong jeng, the source of my trouble.. haha just kidding ;) and she said she could still read it. So over the next few days, I got some emails asking me what the hell was I thinking and stuff like that. quite amusing now that I think about it, and of course, yong jeng didn't really help by saying that people probably would still remember it 10 years down the road after I told her that at least I'm not back home to feel the heat. -.- yong jeng is evil. (:

anyway, the weather is really bizarre here. (somehow we always get back to the weather) it was 23-25 degrees for a while then suddenly it zhroomed up to 33 degrees one day and fell back to 24 again the next. crazy weather. can make people sick >.<

yes i need to cut my hair too! it's starting to look like a dead animal. bah. yong jeng! stop cutting your hair! then all those chopsticks you bought cannot be used. this yong jeng.. dragged lorenda oafie and myself to holland v to buy chopsticks for her hair and spent ages deciding which one would complement her hair better only to cut her hair short a few days later. -.- woman.. woman..

ahh i miss you guys so much! I miss 208 society and how we would go out for dinners and stuff. (: -hugs- hope things are going well with you all and that you're not stressing out too much k? must duo he shui! hee my chinese is stagnating, since it cannot possibly get any worse. HAHA. but zengo and possibly hui yan will be happy to know that there's this half jap guy in my hall who's super handsome! he looks a bit like wu zun! when I first saw him I was like.. o..m..g.. hee you can tell he's caucasian, but at the same time, he has very jap features, so when I see him I'm like.. *sigh* haha ok not so retarded, but you get what I mean. hee hee.

how are you guys doing anyway?? i just realised that huiyan still hasn't converted to the new blogger yet!! huiyan!!! where are you??? haha guess you guys are really busy now.. and vivain how were your tests? haven't heard/talked to you in an exxxxxxxxxxxxxxtremely long time.. update us (or is it just me? ahhh) kayz.. ^_^

iris and oafie.. hope you guys are adapting well to australia.. the weather's really erractic right? must take care kayz!! and iris it was really shocking to get a call from you from australia haha.. must leave records of how you sent out a personal mail to everyone in the o-team yahoogroups haha.. ^_^ i'm evil i know.. haha but what's new? anywayz it was still nice to hear your voice even though it was really quite an amusing call ^o^ haha

anyway my laptop's still experiencing random flickers on the screen so i sent it for repair again.. hopefully they'll allow me to exchange it for a new one.. given that there's no applecare centre in japan =_= yes i just realised i might in kind of a sticky situation if i went there with a problematic macbook... so i'm hoping REALLY hard that they allow me to exchange it.

and yes.. i cut my hair again haha.. i think it looks better this time round ^_^ thank goodness... and don't worry oafie.. i'll be leaving it to grow this time round ^_^ i want to use my hair accessories as well haha.. will post pics once i get my laptop back.. i think everybody else whose photos are with me wants to kill me already cause i'm taking forever to transfer the photos to them haha..

one of my neighbours is renovating their ENTIRE house now so at the moment the workers are tearing the house down and the drilling is KILLING me... haha and the rest of my family... the whole house is vibrating too.. great isn't it.. haha.. and the start at 8.30 in the morning!!!!! omg lahz.. how could they?!!! so yes.. i can't wait to get out of the house now haha the air in my neighbourhood is also getting polluted.. horridz. there's dust EVERYWHERE.. as in literally everywhere. feels like if i go out when they're drilling i'll just collapse because of all the dust that i'll be breating in haha...

so anyway.. i'm not even done packing my room but i plan to finish by end of this week.. wish me luck haha.. i just caught a flu some more canz.. haha so hopefully i'll start on my luggage by next week.. and yes all i know about my departure date is still the fact that i'll be flying off within the first week of april. =_= i want to know more!! haha

hello guys.. i finally got down to blogging after i left my fedex job last wed.. haha i've been feeling lazy all week so forgive me ^_^ well i'm still reading the blog everyday for new entries though so i was sort of a phantom haha..

anyway vivian all i know about when i'll be leaving is that i'll be leaving within the first week of april.. pretty ironic that i've already decided what i'll be wearing up the plane but i STILL don't know when i'll be leaving =_= they wouldn't tell us anything!!!

i've got pictures of when i went to see off oafie.. i even tried to take a picture of her plane 'cause after she went in i still had an extremely loooooong time before i needed to report for work since i took half day off haha so i decided to go to the viewing gallery to take a peek at her plane (umm ok the plane that she could possibly be on).. well.. i thought i saw a quantas plane cause there was only ONE plane with a red tail (but the passageway buildings were blocking the picture on it) so i decided to wait for it to take flight so that i could take a picture of it and post it on this blog.. but guess what.. when it took off.. ahhhh IT WASN'T A FREAKING QUANTAS PLANE!!!!!!! but it left at 9.10 am which was the time that oafie's plane was supposed to take off tooooooooo... arghz. so i had waited in vain. =_= haha but ah well.. i had nothing to do anyway.... haha... so anyway guys.. i took a picture of it.. the tail of it i mean.. so i'll be posting up the pictures after i deal with my mac's problem.. the monitor flickers randomly so i've decided to ask for an exchange..

hey i'm back! (and i promise this will not be a whiny post)

oh man, iris it's 38 degrees there??? see global warming is taking its toll on us all! that's why all of us must fight global warming! haha firstly, we can all do our small part by using less paper. for those of us who use paper like nobody's business, remember that every piece of paper that is wasted means more carbon dioxide in the air!

by the way, this is to all the science people... has the percentage of oxygen in our atmosphere decreased or something? it must have right, if carbon dioxide is increasing. or is there so much oxygen that the carbon dioxide increase is negligible to the total composition? how interesting.

and maybe i want to rant a bit about the US. yeah, china is emitting a lot of CO2, which is supposedly common to all developing countries but the US is a freaky developed country but is still emitting so much CO2! i think i'm just in my anti-US mode again.

ok, i should stop being a stupid activist here. ok, iris, i can't tell you to take off your clothes can i? how is it going for you oafie? is it as hot in perth too? haha iris, the places you're going sound interesting, especially being able to see people surf. haha so are all the blokes and women all nicely tanned and all? apparently when the summer comes in london we will see people wearing very little (extremely little according to my friend) so is it like that now in melbourne? :) and great that you have a cosy room! cosy rooms that make you feel at home are very important. it can affect your sleeping and everything too. how are you oafie? didn't get the chance to talk longer to you that day cos i had to go out and shop for cny reunion dinner stuff with my friends. (had steamboat out of a rice-cooker, if you get what i mean haha)

and of course the people in singapore. how was cny?? haha i miss all the cny food so bad! i wish i was there to stuff myself silly with pineapple tarts. yong jeng, this is your last cny in singapore for the next 5 years or so right? haha you must remember more stuff about it! even lorenda and huiyan, haha enjoy the one week long break too! i wished i had a break that long this week... i kinda just refused to do anything today and actually gave myself a self-declared holiday by missing a lect and a class. what a bad example. and lorenda, get skype! maybe one of these days we can actually all skype together at the same time and confuse everybody out cos we have no idea who is speaking! :) and huiyan! get a microphone! or zengo get one for her! haha! or else you'll just be a lurker again!

ahhhh yay this is the new version of blogger! hello darlings! (: how're you all doing? I'm seriously burning up down under. The weather here is ridiculous.. like seriously hellish. Today the temperature was like 38 degrees? To think that at 34 degrees back home, I used to be complaining like mad. Ah well, impossible to satisfy me when it comes to weather. HEE YES! so how have you all been? This week has been super crazy for me! the first day I came, I moved into my room and by the end of the day, my mom helped me unpack EVERYTHING. so it was like.. wow that was quick. haha. but I like my room a lot! It's really cosy!

I just wanted to let you guys know first.. my msn messenger is not working! I really have no idea.. my skype is working though! bleh. When I want to go online I can't. so retarded. I tell you this computer hates me. So does the weather, incidentally. but yes, I hope I'll get it fixed soon so that I can talk to you all because I really miss you all a lot. 208 society. YEAH!

Speaking of how much the weather hates me, I think it's going to rain soon. and I'm starving. -.- Speaking of rain, the other day, my parents, sister and I drove to the 12 apostles over in a more western part of Victoria (the state I'm in) and it was a seriously killer drive. we did stop over at this really nice motel that overlooks the ocean. We took the great ocean road that goes along the southern coast of Australia and it was really scary driving through because it's quite high up in the mountains at some spots and on the other side is like this cliff. but the waves were super nice! We could see people surfing and everything. It was just kilometers of seemingly unending beach. (: then the next day we went to see the 12 apostles and it was so freaking hot. omg. I wanted to die i turned like 10 million shades blacker -.- but they were really nice! just a note, the 12 apostles are these 12 stacks along the southern coast of Victoria that were created due to wave action or some geoggy stuff like that (: it was really nice!

ahh i really miss you guys but my parents are coming soon so I have to go get ready. -hugs- love you all!!

ok i'm the only idiot still in school so i can't find anyone to rant to... sorry that you guys have to suffer this but....

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

haha ok so what's up, you ask. (or maybe not) this week, like most of the other weeks i'm gonna see, saw the submission of two essays for me, one of which i chose to write on the cold war (which sucked by the way. i was indecisive and couldn't come up with a strong thesis statement to carry me through at all. and bloody hell i wasted so much time actually reading 4 books (which is kinda a big deal cos i actually read read and not just glance through) to write crap. haha i was even embarrassed to hand in my essay) and the other i chose to write on china. anyway, for the china essay, it was for a course in which i have never submitted my work on time before since there is always an essay preceding it that i waste my time on and so this time i made a resolution that i must hand it in on the day it's due. (actually it's due at 4pm but since i've never handed in on the day itself even, my definition of on time is the day itself) so for the past 2 days (haha cos i read so much for the other essay that i only had 2 days left for this) i've been waking up at unearthly hours of the day (actually not really. just the time i used to wake up when i was still a good student at rgs who is afraid to get a booking for lateness) so as to complete the readings and finish this essay (i am quite proud of the completing the readings part... since i read 213 pages, understanding nearly everything that's going on, in 1 day) and i actually managed to finish it by 4pm today! ok, then stupid footnoting took me one hour (i'm one of those people who is stupid enough not to cite as i write cos it breaks my stream of thought) but not bad still, cos i was done by 4.50pm, which left me some time to go to school to submit my essay. well, i thought i would take a bus so that i would be faster and so that i would not be TOO late for my class which at 5pm. and the roads didn't look jammed so i took the bus in good faith. ok actually by the time i printed the essay out and everything it was 5.10pm (man this stupid school computer is lagging. like my nokia 3310 phone last time when i sms). still since i take 25 min to walk to school, if i take the bus on a non-crowded road it should be say 15 min right? ok i waited 5 min for the bus. ok the roads were not jammed but i think the bus stopped for 3 min at every stop or somethign cos of the sheer volume of people hopping on and getting out (haha evidently i have not taken the bus during rush hour before). when i got to school, i happily went to the departmental office where i was supposed to submit my essay and guess what?

THE OFFICE HAS CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

argh for two reasons. 1. i didn't (or rather forgot) to bring my phone out and thus had no idea what the time was. 2. i thought the office closed at 6pm and not 5pm! man i'm 95% certain that the office closed at 6pm before the christmas break!!

why did i go through the pain (and miss my ir class and now have to write another email to apologise for my absence) for?????????????

sorry this is so incoherent and self-centred. but now that i have written it down, it sounds very silly indeed and very my-fault. and am a much calmer and relaxed situation now. zen has come over me. :D

haha sorry this sounds so weird and everything, you are talking (or rather reading/listening) to a person who has just spent the previous 5 hours finishing a (more than) 2000-word essay. ladida!!

hey dears it's lorenda. why is no one posting on the blog anymore :( haha.

anyway just to update you guys, life is as per normal for me... lots of deadlines this semester though. my next deadline is 2359 on chinese new year's eve! and i told my mum that i'm skipping any reunion whatsoever, howsoever arranged if i can't finish the memorial by then. apparently the course was designed by caucasian tutors, who happily slotted such an unfortunate deadline. haha.

most of the friends i know will attempt to complete the memorial in time for the reunion. actually, i don't know if i'm sick or what, i see a silver lining in this. IF the reunion comprises of horrid STEAMBOAT again, i'll be glad to miss it! I HATE STEAMBOAT AHHAHA. but if it's not steamboat this year. then i will be very very sad to miss it. we'll see if i finish the work in time. must eat more la...i wanna bulk up. hahahahaahahahahaha.

oh yeah i went for a combined tutorial just this wed and...........hehehhehehehehe my eyecandy was there too! he's so weird and cute la. hahahaha.

school stinks. i hate the travelling...but i am so glad i moved out of hall! i'd rather wake up at 8 am at my place and reach school at 9 rather than wake up at 730 in hall for breakfast! and wait for the shuttle bus which is SO bumpy that i fear to even drink water. cos misfortunes have happened which involved me spilling water unto myself haha.

argh i have no idea on how to start on my memorial.... it is TERRIBLE

anyway i am off to read crim... i am slacking la. i only read the mugger notes. shit. :(

hey all! haha i met zengo online just now and thus have no excuse not to blog. and man i was surprised to see so many new entries.

this time it's my time to question zengo... why never tell us that you got the juga scholarship?? that's great news! haha zengo is so smart! and sorry i didn't know that you're sick.. hope that you are feeling better! and please eat more to put on some weight before you go to japan and freeze there! ok.. maybe it won't be so bad cos it's spring when you go right? my jap teacher was telling us that it was very warm when she returned for christmas and when i was bitching to my mother about global warming (which the heavy rainfall in singapore can be explained by. haha watch 'the day after tomorrow' to understand what i'm talking about), she told me that japan just had one of its worst winter or something. :( so zengo, please take care!

on the topic of snow and weather.. haha a few days ago london finally started to feel like winter and it even snowed! ok except that i was asleep and only woke up to see snow on my rooftop (i live in the attic) and on the branches of trees and a white patch in the garden behind my hall. by the time i actually got ready to go out the snow had melted and so far, i have not seen snow again and don't think i will cos the temperature is increasing again. anyway, i was talking to my friend who told me that recently london had very warm summers, and it was above 30 degrees at some point. O_O vivian is that true?? oh man if that's the case i will die when i take my exams in the summer!

and oafie and iris! i actually wrote a letter to you all but have no idea when you are flying and dare not send! is it iris or oafie who's flying on the 11th feb again? or did i remember wrongly?? haha dun worry about the packing kay? you will eventually finish it somehow lah. and iris, i get your skinning chicken pain. i couldn't even skin one chicken wing, much less an entire chicken! haha get vivian to communicate with you through your dreams so that you can take skinning lessons from vivian in your dreams! and oafie you got drunk? haha you drank that much alcohol?? i haven't even got drunk before! dun get too wild k? and speaking of which i haven't even got to drink oafie-made starbucks coffee yet! i wonder if i will have the chance again...

who's coffeee?? haha is there a way to tell vivian and i discreetly? is the person very good-looking or something? hmm...

and haha please post the dates you are flying off online! aiyah i wish to be at the gathering that you guys are gonna have (and i'm sure vivian too) but haha a bit hard to fly back to singapore. oh well have a great time kay?

haha anyway, since i kinda promised zengo, i shall make the long story about my computer short. last sunday my computer kinda died on me.. for some weird reason the operating system (that being windows xp) got wiped out all of sudden after my computer suddenly hung and i had to reinstall everything, losing a lot of settings and my files in my c drive in the process. well, it was a pain in the ass cos i forgot to bring my drivers and utilities cd so my computer was pretty much dead for 2 days until vivvy rescued me by lending me her cds and stuff. so if you saw me online, i was probably in the school library or using the computers in my hall. anyway, it's still a bit problematic cos it takes 1h for my computer to shut down now i think and my scroll button does not work. have to wait till i receive my purchase receipt from my mother over the airmail (who knows how long that will take, knowing royal mail) in order to send it to fujitsu for some checks. man scary. (haha huiyan please dun tell my mum cos she will freak out i think) so please, ppl, take good care of your laptops and do not download any suspicious looking things. have anti-virus software, firewalls, anti-spyware and what nots on your computer to protect yourself from the many malicious worms and viruses out there before they do strange things to your computer. hmm.. now i wonder if i should buy a laptop insurance... but vivian rocks haha she practically saved my life.

yup that's the story of my laptop, and i think the most amazing part was how calm i managed to be when the whole thing happened. in fact my roommate didn't even know about the crisis that i was going through until i told her 4 hours later cos apparently i didn't make any noise. HAHA. ok ppl, remember to give us your addresses when you move kay? and as for huiyan and lorenda, haha i'll be coming back on the 25th june so i'll see you guys when i return then! all of you take care and dun soak yourself in singapore's rain ok?

Iris is back

hello dearies :) i'm back! I've been so lazy to blog, not including yesterday, that was not just me. hee. Anyway, I just realised that I don' tknow my flight details yet. Actually I never bothered to check. haha. oh well. I think my mom will know. She's paranoid about these kinds of things.

I was just reading the past entries by Shun and Vivvy. Oh and Zengo, by the way, get well soon! My life at the moment is quite sad because my mom has been nagging me nonstop to try to cook. But then when I am ready to cook, there is always some leftover ready for me. Then when I think that there are some more left overs, there is new food on the table. Oh well, I'll learn the hard way I guess. Like my older brother and sister.. they had to make this dish soy sauce pork, which is essentially minced pork swimming in a soy sauce water thing. anyway, apparently they were only supposed to put 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and for some strange reason, they ended up putting in half a bottle, so it really tasted like shit but it was quite funny. :)

and skinning the chicken.. I remember my mom tried to teach me how to skin a chicken a few months back. She had these 2 fat chickens that were on sale I think and she skinned one for me then asked me to do the other one while she supervised. Then she got irritated by the way I was skinning the second one because according to her, I wasn't holding the knife right or the chicken right.. and called me a pansy and told me to get lost and watch her expertise. After 5 mins she made me continue skinning it. -.- all in all it took me like half an hour to skin that damn chicken so I decided that while i'm in australia, I'll just buy the stupid chicken breasts because I don't like the other parts of the chicken. When I come back and have nothing better to do, I'll practice skinning chickens :D even better still, I think I'll buy a rotisserie chicken that's already been cooked. that should be able to last me for like 3 days I think. :D

i'm convinced I'm going to die of malnutrition. dammit. Vivvy, do you want to consider doing an exchange in Monash? haha. Maybe you can teach me a thing or 2 before I burn down the whole hall of residence. Just wondering, are you allowed to use crock pots in the room? Because I'm afraid that someone may take my food while I'm slow cooking it during the day.. not that it'll taste great, but if it's ready and free, well, the temptation is there :(

hey guys.. i got my macbook back... but i fell sick.. stomach flu.. so here's just a short entry to ensure you guys that i'm still alive haha.. anyway iris and oafie.. have you guys confirmed your flight details yet? when are you leaving iris? and we should all definitely meet up before you guys fly kayz..

i think i might quit my job sooner than i expected cause it's eating away my life... can you imagine that 3 people have left/are going to leave ever since i have entered the company? omg lahz.. and they are all the more important people (as in doing lots of important stuff).. i guess they must be really fed up with the management (which really sucks btw.. and that coming from a temp who's only been there for 4 months? ha they obviously need to do something about it...) so everybody else who's going to be left behind are probably prepared to camp over in the office already.......... so depending on how much longer my body can hold out.. i just might decide to quit my job earlier than expected.. will tell you guys more when i'm well and up again kayz! ^_^

Oafie just ran out of the room to see coffee because she saw a flash of black. Coffee is wearing black today! :) so there have been several crazy scampers to the door due to false alarms :) boohoo. I want to see coffee.

hallo... vivian here!!!

i am at shun's hall now and we just ate lunch after two hours of cooking and eating... guess what we had? no need to guess, i tell you now. we had chicken/veggie soup with chickencooked in soya sauce and lemon. i just realised that shun didn't tell me that she had an eye operation in 2005!!! and now it is 2007!!! how come nobody tell me that she went for the operation for the whole of 2006?

haha yeah how come nobody told her? (by the way this is shunling here) i thought everybody knew! (i say in my defense) anyway, it was only a minor surgery and the worst thing that could happen was me going blind.

anyway, VIVIAN IS DAMN PRO!!!! she is really good at cooking and skinning chicken!!

No lo!!! I am not good at skinning chicken and cooking! ( by the way, it is vivian here) oh ya, i forgot to wish you all a happy new year... i lost to everyone hahahaha everyone else beat me to it and it is the 3rd of jan( 4th of jan in Singapore) hahhaha and i am too late to wish you all that... ya shun said i should wish you all a happy 2008 , haha so now i beat all of you all to it!

ah dammit zeng, shun, lorenda and oafie have beat me to wishing you all happy new year.. but happy new year anyway! :)

let's see.. how'd i spend new year's eve.. i avoided orchard road like the plague! :) i saw the photos in the paper and i was like o.0 so glad I didn't go! :) I had to work so that was kind of crappy, after which I rushed to church and then I came home and relaxed. Was playing on my computer when the countdown started. My neighbour was having an extremely noisy party. The whole evening was punctuated with screams. It was quite irritating, but then I didn't call the police :) It was, after all, new year's eve.

anyway, on this lovely second day of 2007, I hope that you all are having a nice new year so far :) take care darlings! ;)

im blogging again! haha. i've gotten my reading list for both contract and criminal but i have yet to start on either! i don't know. inertia. argh. i spend all my time sleeping, reading stuff thats not related to academics, watching Soyouthinkyoucandance, watching other tv programmes sometimes, going out, looking for a new watch, but being unsuccessful, shopping a little (unsuccessful), mostly sleeping, actually... school's starting next week and i haven't done any readings. even though it looks really daunting and a great amount, too. and i haven't even gone to nus to repair my laptop. HAHA. i keep putting it off... :( seriously hope it can be repaired in a day man! and not have to leave it there or something... that would be scary...:(

haha and i think i got bonier during hte hols... ok maybe not bonier...but no weight gain... strange... most people put on weight during the hols, because of the inactivity + eating lots of food...i think it's because there's not a lot of food at home to eat...and im lazy to buy/cook...haha.

wait a minute. i cant cook. to be really honest. i just pretend that i can... cos it's uncool not to know how to cook. ahhaahaha.

hello.

i can't believe a new term's starting so soon. i haven't finished slacking enough. and we got our readings for criminal law already!

(and i am in the same group as my eyecandy.)

hahaha quite lucky, i think. because the cohort's split into 3. and this year for another module, the cohort was split into 2 and he was in the other group. but this time it's split into 3 but im in the same group as the eyecandy!

and this grouping's for 2 modules... which is about 50% of lesson time. hahahahahaa.

but before you get too excited, i must state that this is a seminar group comprising 70-odd people...HAHAHA. :D so not much chance to look at eyecandy also la. ahhahahaahahahahahahhahahaa.

ok enough i think you all would probably think the eyecandy's not goodlooking at all. i am famed for weird taste after all.

the uk pple should update! haha... vivian, when does your term start? i know shun starts on the 8th...

anyway shun, i remember you saying that you can download hk dramas and asked me for recommendations...well i would suggest war and beauty. it's going to be aired on local tv soon, and it's about palace politics...usually i steer clear of period dramas cos they're not relatable nor fastpaced enough for me, but this show is touted as a major successful production with all the big names... yeah. i think it traces 4 actresses and how they made their way up in the palace. charmaine sheh, gigi lai, maggie cheung and shireen tang (??). ahahah i like maggie cheung the most... and i'm warming up to charmaine. i never liked her... because she had an annoying voice (im sorry!!) but it's tonnes better now... and her acting is less act cute. i guess she grew more mature with age. :)

and by the way margaret's transit to singapore has been shortened to a mere 5 hours. she'll touch down on the 11th, at 530 pm i think. or 5 pm. but i hope we can still meet her at the airport or something? it'll be a pity to let this pass...

AHHH Shun Ling and Auntay met up! :) Lucky duckies. But before I make any more comments, I would like to announce that:

THE ORANGE BOOK HAS OFFICIALLY DIED IN MY POSSESSION.

the last entry is incomplete, by yours truly, and dates back to a few months ago. :D so sorry about that. I should pass it to one of you women before it starts to turn yellow and brittle.

England looks so pretty. :) I kind of wish I could go to study in England, but none of the universities there wanted me :( nevermind! I have Aussie land with Oafie who is still working at Starbucks. :) Bleh I think I'll probably remain unemployed for the next one month, and continue my life as a bum and live off my parents. Haha. I sound like a 50 year-old bum, but a bum nonetheless.

I think Shun and Vivvy are right! We always ask about weather. Which is why I got scolded by Vivvy the last time I skyped her. So sad. :( So far away and Auntay still wants to scold me. :) hee hee just kidding. Since we're on the topic of weather, as always, the rain here has been ghastly! Yesterday morning, I woke up at 1030 because it was raining so hard and it was so cold. Some areas were flooded :/ hope you darlings were ok!! and didn't get too soaked or anything.

OOH and I booked my flight already. Sort of. It's very complicated. I don't know what's going on. And Shun Woman! I haven't started packing yet, let alone think about what to pack. I may just bring my whole room and have so much excess baggage and then when I get there, I'll have to send everything back with my parents and then after that realise that I have nothing to survive on! :/

Ok these are the random ramblings of a bum. Who needs to get off her butt and do something productive with her life! Before she has no more life! :D I mean that in the studying sense of course. I need to buy so many things. blehhhhhhhh.

Hee sorry for complaning, but it's one of the things I do best.. :) can't beat Zengo of course! She is second to none.

hey everyone! haha i was supposed to go to vivian's place to blog together but we were too busy complaining about life to do everything else. :D anyway, our holidays have finally started and answering to everyone's favourite question about the weather.. well, it's getting colder but not quite winter yet i think. actually when all the leaves on a tree are gone is it considered winter already? i dun quite know the definition haha. here are some pictures to give you an idea of what the weather is like here:
haha that is tavistock square which is just outside my hall. when i first came if i were to take a picture, you wouldn't have been able to see the red buildings in front. well, ok it's not the best representation of a typical london day cos the weather was really nice yesterday, with blue skies and all. it's getting more and more grey i feel but not to the point where you feel like killing somebody yet. ok more pictures coming on... it's picture-whoring time!

ok this is the exterior of the hall i live in. it has a history of being involved in a fire, so they are super paranoid about it and have extremely sensitive smoke/fire alarms. hence we get to experience the drama of having the alarm set off and rushing out of our hall, while waiting for the stupid fire engines to come to check out the hall quite regularly. anyway, some other picture...

this is tavistock square as well, the entrance to it actually. quite a nice place, when i actually went into during my first few days here and when it was still warm i could see squirrels running about and chewing nut i think.

haha this is the view outside vivian's hall when i visited her today at 4pm! (yeah and that's how the sky looks like at 4pm too). haha actually there's this semi-circle road thing outside her hall but i couldn't take it very well so you've gotta settle for this! and lastly, a picture all of you must have been waiting for...

hey how come no one is giving me moral support? haha i am having exams next week but everyone seems to just ask me abt the weather hehe ... sigh everyone is playing already(i am sure that is what shun is doing too) cos term is ending but i am stil slaving away alone(cos no one in my hall takes dentistry) haha so anyways... i hope i can make it:) feeling so damn tired already cos i have been having classes right until this fri(all stuff learnt is tested) before next week's exam... and exams are going to last 4 days:( so some support please? hahahahahahaha i think i am being so thick skinned oopsy... but seriously, i feel so alone is this ... hall life isn't helping... hall parties along the corridors are not helping either... not to mention the hall bursar deciding to knock down my toilet to rebuild a new one in this two weeks, contributing to the noise and inconvenience of me going to the 2nd floor(i live on the 4th floor) to take a bath :( ok i shall stop rambling haha)

but other than that, i feel happy that i did dentistry haha:) anyways hope everyone is fine:) i am really sorry i have't written in a long time:) hope you guys have a good time:)

haha my torts exam ended today. and guess who was sitting beside me in the exam hall :/ it was the eyecandy aha. and i was looking like total crap cos i went from hall and i wore this damn black faced expression cos i was feeling stressed and pissed haha. what a great way to leave an impression haha. not like i care. he can likened to the moon, and the exam, the sun. when the sun comes up, the glow of the moon is obscured- u dont even see the existence of the moon anymore. haha.

haha and misanthropy?-how very true. i have lost all faith in the human race.

haha ok i should stop being so dark and macabre and jaded and depressed. haha ive already gotten past the angsty and emo stage many years back...now there's just a weariness and tiredness. :( as stacie oricco sings it, 'theres got to be more to life'. HAHAHA.

PROMISE ME YOU WILL watch this! hes my new obsession. the geek who won 'so you think you can dance 2'. anyway he is the first dork-dancer i know. all the other dancers in the show are poseur and beefy and gross. hahaha.

his partner is heidi, another contestant in so you think you can dance. shes his cousin. they've been in competitive swing dance since they were kids. haha.

he has so many characteristics similar to clay. i think my taste is too uniform.
- strong christian; he served a missionary for 2 years, gave up dancing.
-after going back to US, he found out his fiancee dumped him (AWWWW)
-he went back to dancing as an emotional outlet haha!
- he resembles clay, just that he is less self-conscious about his geekiness. how cool is that.
-he REALLY is a total geek, u will realise this upon watching a few episodes of so you think you can dance. hahaha
-he cried after winning the show. so cute. haha.
- he was always bullied in school because of his geekiness i suppose (AWWWW)
-after shooting to fame, he set up a charity called DEMAND. (clay set up a foundation called Bubel-Aiken Foundation)
-he makes me laugh
-he is the US champion in the west coast swing. swing happens to be my favourite gendre of dance. because it is fun to watch yet requires high technical precision. means he got a lot of seh. top in the US Open Championships.

but somehow i think benji's much much much more attractive than clay. even though objectively, clay's more handsome. hahaha. but benji is sooo endearing!

well i hope i've converted at least some of you into becoming benji fans through this post. but knowing how u all always slam my taste... i doubt its going to happen. haha. (:

anyway i was shocked to see so many new entries so i felt inspired to type a new one. anyway vivian i think my life is akin to yours...but the difference is that everyone here is mugging their asses off and i cant seem to figure out how they SLEEP SO LITTLE? haha. i sleep 12 hours still. how TERRIBLE hehe. wasting time! and one of my friends has an msn nick that says "sleep: the greatest time waster"or something like that haha damn freaky right!

the sun sets at 4 pm? then what time do your classes end vivvy? you'd better be careful when walking back to your hall. try to take public transport if it's too dark. is there public transport from king's to your hall? take up martial arts in the holidays ok, i would feel less worried for you if u learnt self defence tactics. after gymming through your sec sch years, i think martial arts would be a cinch lah (:

hey guys... sorry i haven't been typing but yes nice to read new entries though haahha... anyway, i have exams in 3 weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 ARGH i am going to die cos they are testing everything i have learnt and about to learn in the next 3 weeks ... :( so i am REALLY sorry shunling for not getting in touch with you too and i do agree with you 100% that who says that in uni you have loads of time and have loads of fun cos they should go and die ahahahahah... oh my christmas break is starting on the 16dec what abt yours shun? my parents are coming on the 19 dec till the 1 jan i think and i guess i will be pretty occupied in that time cos they said they are renting a car and going to visit the SW of UK( cornwall area) i really dunno the details though cos my sister is supposed to plan it all :S ahhahahahaha so anyway, now it is really study study study ... and did i mention now the sun sets at 4 pm?
