hi my dears :) i have the orange book now! :) yay. hui yan just wrote in red so i'm going to write in red too!! :D anyway, it's been a while since i last came here and so many entries are up!! except for oafie! where's oafie?

anyway, i'm stuck at home so bored.. and so sleepy. i just thought i'd pop by here and say HALLO and shun it's nice to know you're in your rightful apartment! haha. i hope no screw ups with my accomodation happen. if not i'll be stuck in a foreign land with no place to go. oohness. :) so melodramatic!!

my mother has been scolding me everyday that i need to learn how to cook. but i sort of know how to cook. i know how to bake!! :) but i can't survive on chocolate cake everyday can i? later.. OOH fats. :) so yes.. maybe i'll invite zeng, hy, oaf and lorlee over for dinner before i go. hur hur. that is, if i can cook and if you dare to eat my food. -cackles- haha ok i sound evil but yeah.. i need to learn how to cook. but then every time i attempt to cook and follow the cookbook like a good. uh. chef, my mom always will come into the kitchen and start telling me that i shouldn't follow the recipe book and then she'll take all my cooking things away from me and take over my cooking.. then she'll start adding all sorts of random things and ahh. i should just not follow any recipe book at all and survive on my own home made chicken chop and salad for the rest of the year. HAHA. how entertaining. but hai.. maybe i should have taken f&n in rg like vivvy.. then i will be able to cook.. HAH yeah right. f9 can.. f9. :)

Hui Yan! don't stress out too much over your projects ok? hy is pro!! :D you'll be OK! :) i have faith in you! hee like shun used to say, hui yan! you're very resourceful. so yes. use all your resourcefulness and get an A+++ for your projects!! :D

and lorenda.. kick the mugger toots. or you can tell them something along the lines of study hard, mug hard.. die anyway. :) of course that applies to all of us hee hee.

and last but not least, (hey we'll start this eventually, so i might as well start this now) YONG JENG IS EVIL. :) OH and i must tell you all! yong jeng and i were supposed to go jogging one morning.. but then i had to go to the hospital because my dad needed to go for an angiogram to check for blockages in his heart so my family went with him.. nothing serious :) but yes, but before that we decided we'd meet at 830 at yck stadium. i woke up super early that morning and msged her that i wouldn't be able to meet her to run. and then i got a reply at like 1030 saying ok. -.- then i asked zengo whether she just woke up and she said yes!! o.0 can you imagine if i had gone to the stadium to wait for her at 830!? hee. actually i would probably have woken up only at 830 or 9 or 930. or sometime along there. HAHA. resistance is futile.. haha sorry just felt like saying that :D

hey everyone i'm currently blogging in my school. not that it has started yet or anything.. just that i moved to my actual hall yesterday and being new and everything i can't get the damn connection up in my room! so i have to come to school and rely on the school's wireless in the cafeteria for a connection. isn't that sad?

and lorenda haha sorry for not posting pictures. the first reason is of cos my lack of a connection and the second is cos.. well.. haha both vivian and i don't know exactly what to take to show you guys. to us, though things are certainly different from singapore, in the London context they look kinda the same so we don't know exactly what to take to show you guys. but when the connection of my room is actually up, i'll post some pictures of my old room (a very student kinda room) and my current one (which is more english i guess but being recently renovated and all, now it just looks like any other new rooms in singapore, other than the fact that it has a super low ceiling since i'm on the upper most level).

you know since i'm gonna talk about my room anyway i should just stop using the parenthesis. (is that how you spell it?) anyway, my old room (as vivian saw) is pretty much situated in a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood which i thought was kinda down-to-earth in some sense. it's next to a public school and there's a street market kinda thing (not the wet kind in singapore of course) slightly down the street. my new one is really close to vivian's hall (in fact i winded up at vivian's hall when i was trying to find my way from the old one to the new one) and somehow the vibe is more of a serious one i guess, being so close to russell square (near bloomsbury, which apparently many famous authors like virginia woolf, charles dickens and several others that i can't remember lived in at some point of their lives, and the british museum which has an interior that totally isn't what one would expect from its exterior, to me at least) and UCL. haha in fact, while i used to look at trees when i stared out of my window in my previous room, if i were to look right out of the window from my new room i will see UCL's centre of slavonic and east european studies. haha if i change in my room without closing the curtains, the professors and what nots working in that building on their dissertations and papers would probably have a free show. haha.

anyway, as i mentioned, i'm staying on the upper most level. in name it is the 4th storey. however, i've to climb 12 flights of steps (2 to each floor) since there's the lower ground floor and the ground floor before you get the 1st floor. i always pant after the 2nd floor and man, i'm gonna lose some serious weight climbing that thing everyday. there're no lifts cos i think this building is too old to install some. in fact, this hall (unfortunately) has a history of being extremely fire-prone. to lse students it's kinda like a joke. vivian will probably (or not) tell you more about it when i bring her over.

haha i think vivian is not blogging cos her lectures have started already while i'm still having my freshers' week going on here. when lectures start proper next week i;ll probably have less time to come online. yeah this place is really cool... i think the italian president is gonna stop by some time next week to give a talk for the UN 60th anniversary series going on here and the greek prime minister as well. haha and i forgot who but this really important history guy at the end of october. i think if you guys were over here you would really appreciate it too. i was also quite surprised when i learnt that the library in lse operates 24/7 for students to research and finish up their papers. the collection here is damn impressive. the singapore national library comes nowhere close to this man. and my history dept was still telling us that should we not find any books here (cos others have already taken them or something) we can always pop into king's, UCL or the senate library to try our luck. haha so i'm still going to continue bothering vivian. except that she probably won't be in that library building haha!

if anyone of you have the chance to come for an exchange programme, haha please come to lse. man, i've only been here for 3 days, and i'm starting to be inspired already. if history lecturers in singapore were that interesting, i don't think anyone of us would have fallen asleep. haha.

hellos! aren't you all surprised to see my post? i decided not to be lazy and post something. there are so many new entries since i last posted! anyway, can you all tell that i'm trying to type in good english to remedy my deproving english. haha..

oh ophe hasn't even blogged before yet! so i'm not the worst haha oops. next time when i crash lorenda's room again, i'll post a combined entry with her! =D

vivian! your entries are so long haha. but you have interesting stories =) i really hope that both you and shunling are really fine over there. if you two have any problem, must tell us ok? don't pretend to sound happy to keep us from worrying =)

anyway, it's supposed to be mid-semester break now. but i'm tied down by so many projects! i really don't know how to start for some! ahh i think i have been slacking too much for the past few weeks =( now i'm going to have a hard time catching up. but it's ok! =) hy can do it! and lorenda too! don't be too stressed =D

yong jeng! when are we going to watch riverdance? shall we go your house? i think i'll be free only in december! oh do you all want to come for coda 2? the concert that you all went for last year? haha actually it's a bit early to advertise now cos the details are not confirmed yet.

short intro

hey guys just a short one cos i'm using the school's computer and it's kinda too open for my liking with people able to see what i'm writing and such.

well anyway wasn't able to connect to the internet in my hall cos i forgot to bring the cable over.. will tell you guys the long story later when i actually manage to get a connection.

basically i;m here (in school) today to pay my school fees and settle some it stuff. well apparently i can't do much yet cos registration for my course isn't till tmr and i can only settle most of my stuff then tmr i guess, including the extremely tedious banking process. i have no contact no yet cos i'm only putting up in a temporary hall and do not have a fixed address enough to buy a sim card for contact purposes. can;t decide if i miss being contactable or not.

ok will update u guys later. by the way it's very scary to see so many pictures of me up here. haha yong jeng can you take some out? and i conclude that i look way better with a ponytail. but so far i'm not tying cos well.. the stupid hair is kinda ideal for keeping you warm, even if the weather's not that cold. haha i'm currently only walking about in a long-sleeve shirt without being blown away and occassionally getting wet.

hey dears... i think i will be writing in this maybe once a week haha... hopefully you all won't get toooooooooo bored ... haha i am in my room now after dinner... had some casserole thing with mash and cauliflower... not too bad but i really think i will get bored with the food oopsy... i am feeling rather under the happy mood today...:( there has been rain for the whole day... not too fantastic i suppose if you know what i mean ... horrid weather to start off your morning... so anyways, to answer iris, haha yeah my brother practically thrown me to the deep end of the pool to swim for survival haha i have been travelling around the city all on my own cos he is"just too busy" hahahahahaha so all those rubbish from the bank and the telephone and the hall and the bank again i have to endure it and face alone sigh... he is just my supporter i guess .... owells i guess that is actually how it is, living in halls and studying in uni, i guess a lot of it is solitary... although you have friends and all, after a while, it just hits you that you have to do things alone and i get a little lonely and sad after a while but after writing it down and thinking abt you all, i feel much better... haaahaaa it seems as though this is my diary but the only difference is that you all are reading it.

oh yes i managed to settle my bank stuff finally and my telephone in my room is working... the no is 02071217477. so if you all feel like talking( although not advisable to talk via that phone cos you will have to pay quite a lot) you can contact me there hahaha. ooooh i had my enrolment and induction talks yesterday and shockingly, my course has a lot a lot a lot of south asians(pakistanis and indians) maybe abt 80 % of the whole cohort is of the indian/pakistani origin ... i was quite shocked and surprised... i thought there would be more white pple but i was wrong... so i guess it won't be toooo bad after all cos our traditions overlap and perhaps there would be a good understanding betwnus all :)

my classes begin next mon so i guess i might not have that much time to write to you all but i do hope i get the chance to :) i really miss you all... i am looking forward to seeing shun next week if i have time i hope!! and i really miss you all hahahaha it is sooooooooooo much easier to say what you want with you all... less so over here... very difficult to communicate my thoughts with pple without sounding stupid hahaha... ok gtg now i think i am boring you all right? hahahaha

oh man vivian looks like you're having some problems there! haha there goes my prepaid plan for my phone. you know the last time i was in london and i used the o2 network (as recommended by M1 dammit) for some strange reason my phone just kept sending smses to myself, like 100 in all within 3 hs!! i was horrified cos that was in spite of the fact that my phone was turned off completely. after i switched to t-mobile it goes better. still... i was really pissed cos my phone bill came up to over 50 bucks alone for smses which i didn't even send myself that month and from then on i told myself that i would use o2 over my dead body.

anyway lorenda, haha relax lah. the guys are just a different breed... someday you will find your place there too. :) just dun think too much abt it.

and iris, haha your situation with accomodation and all sound a lot more normal and safe than mine. seriously man, i think i'm being cheated of my money in uk too. like lorenda said, *** charges exorbitant rates for things.. and i think it's potentially higher than most other colleges. however, i was the one that made the choice so.. too bad. HAHAH.

anyway, i was allocated to this certain hall in school but it's still undergoing renovation cos they recently renewed (is that the right term) this hall which has been standing since 1830. so 2 days ago, i received an email from the school (2 actually) telling me that i might have to move into another hall before moving back to this one cos renovation works are still unfinished! right now, i'm guarding my email like a dog in hope that they will send an email telling me that they have managed to finish it on time and i can proceed to the hall without any further inconveniences. but fat hope man, since it's the uk.

well, i was on the mrt yesterday and man i'm really going to miss you guys. and i'm really sorry oafie, i've been meaning to see you at starbucks but these few days have been crazy preparing for this sat (all my last min medical check up and what nots) and i just wish that i had more time to spend here before i fly off. and today, sigh it's the day before departure so i'm pretty much grounded at home, spending time with my family. :( but all of you take care kay, and well.. i'll see huiyan and lorlee when i return next year.

that seemed long to me. i guess the next update would be when i'm actually there. (to terrorise vivian and introduce the weirdo called shunling, however it's gonna be pronounced, to unfortunate people in lse)

hello dearies!! arghhh i'm so so so bored. so i just thought i'd pop by and say hallo. =) how are you all doing? vivvy, things sound so complicated for you! =( why are they so anal? i just found out that school officially starts on 24 feb for me.. so i'll be going about 3 weeks earlier? apparently i have to reach by the 12th for registration, then there's hall orientation, international orientation, med orientation (yay!) and all the other kinds of rubbish. x) so basically i'll be going there 3 weeks earlier for all these "fun activities" and giving more money to the hall. it's just a money-making thing i tell you. and it's really scary because i dont' know which hall i have gotten. i'll only know in november or so. which is actually quite soon i realised. i was talking to my counsellor and he said that applying for accomodation 6 months in advance is quite normal. hm. and i'll be getting my visa next month. ahh exciting exciting. =)

i was thinking about going over to australia on my own to let it be a rite of passage.. but then i realised that it's potential suicide. vivvy! did your brother bring you to all those places? because if you went alone, that's quite pro. i'm not as brave as shun to go all alone =) shun you're damn damn damn pro. i kowtow to you =) yeah. so i have decided to ask the family to go along with me. the sister finishes a levels this year so she'll be very free. then the parents can help me set up everything.. and vivvy do they really try to cheat you of your mooney for the phone line? =( not good not good. hmph.

ok and i have gotten a new phone after walking about for hours on end at tottenham court road with the brother just to find one network that does not cheat me of my money hahaha so now i have a number and it is unfortunately a temporary number and i will change it in a week's time as the current pay as you go(like Hi card) is sort of cheating my money so i will tell you all then when i get a proper no hees...:)

ok so back to my day... today i woke up at 7 am and then went for breakfast at 8 am to 9 am and we had the typical english breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages and tomato and some other stuffs haha and so i ate a full breakfast... quite ok lah ... but unfortunately, no picture to show you all as yet cos i still dunno how to transport my pictures in my phone to into the computer. oh then i went to hughparry hall(just next door) to find out how to get my telephone in my room to work but it is still not working i am afraid:(

ooh then i left the hall at approx 11.30 am to walk to strand(approx 30 min walk but since weather is good so it is ok, walking is not too tiring hahah) ...what did i do at strand? hmmmmmmmm oooooooooooh i think i went to register with the GP. haha the nurse was this black guy who was supposed to look at my medical history and he was asking lots of stupid questions and guess how long i spent there? almost 2 hours! terrible right? just to get yself registered. but luckily it is FOC... hahahahaha so since it is FOC, i am going to get my meningitis C vaccination done this fri. hahaha how fun! ooh i think that is not supposed to be fun... oh did i tell youall that the floor that i am staying has no one living in it?! so i am all alone :( not too fun i suppose but it is peaceful i guess...

oh ya then i walked to waterloo to get onto the tube to get to the london bridge(my school campus) to find a bank that will allow me to get a bank account started but they turned me away since i didn't have enough supporting doc. so i then walked to the school to get my documents sorted out and then i went back to the hall to get my other documents sorted... sigh... it was tiring:(

owells i think i have to go to the bank tmr to see if i can do the bank account tmr... so then at night, i went to dinner

hall still has litle singaporeans and many whites... met some whites who are quite nice:) but also some who are not interested in what you are saying sigh... hope as time goes by it will be better...

haha thanks iris :o) i am evil, but i hope the guys lose their steam as well. surely no human can keep up that amount of insane readings for 4 years of school right? but the point is even if they slack, i think they can smoke really rather well and say things that appear to have lots of substance. on the spot. hahaha. yea the people in law are rather eloquent in that sense. :o(

anyway i got back my first assignment. hahahaha. :o( but never mind. haha. i'll survive.

and my next assignment...is a rewrite of the first assignment. SIGH. lame. but i think it's good cos it forces you to summarise summarise summarise, ORGANISE into a coherent structure. after re-reading my first piece i realised i made little or no sense. ggxx!

(auntay) how be you? sounds like you're having a lot of fun in the uk! :) so nice.. is it rainy there? it's very rainy here and i'm freezing in my sparsely furnished room. haha sounds like a prison cell. but it's better than a prison cell :) but ahh.. sounds like soooo much fun! and shun ling is going over too!! :) lucky womarn. shun ling and vivvy, if/when (more like if) i go visit, we can go see the sights and we can cook together.. :D haha potentially disastrous! :D i love the uk. :D

hi dearies(greetings from london)

sorry i haven't been able to talk to you guys:(:( i have been rather busy of late cos of orientation. ..haha i dunno if you all are interested but nevermind just bear with me ks?just wanted to let you know that i will be moving in to canterbury hall this saturday 16 sept but i still don't know the room no and tel no yet can i will keep you posted. i will be getting my 'pay as you go' phone tommorrow and i will let you know the number as soon as possible. hahaha i think it is not a bad deal.it is a 10 pound top up scheme that provides 300 free sms and if i talk on the phone, the amount of money will be deducted as i talk. also, once i finish using my 300 free sms, i will have to pay 10p for each sms that is beyond the 300 free sms with the 10 pound credit.

orientation was quite good actually because there is seminars and lectures on topics like banking, culture shock, study techniques and skills, etc. and then i met a lot of singaporeans and also malaysians and met a two dentistry international students, both guys, one from brunei (malay i think)and one from kenya(but he is an indian, hindi). i also met some malaysians, one japanese lady who is doing postgraduate on psycology, and some andmohs...but i foung the big white guys and girls ot entirely friendly and interested in you at all... like after a while of talking, they drift away. and the pple were all more mature than the pple in singapore i feel so that is good i think cos maybe moving abroud forcespple to be independent and thus more mature? i dunno hahahah oooh... did i tell you that i had a river cruise down the thames today and it started from london bridge city pier and went downstream to the pier near our house and then back upstream to waterloo. ( it was held from 2.15 to 4pm) we saw a lot of bridges and also lots of interesting monuments and also the globe theatre and also the tate museum... but i don't have a camera so i can't show you any pictures of any kind ... how unfortunate :(:( but mostly, i hung/hand around with the asian pple namely singaporeans(haha i think i am not supposed to but sigh... difficult to invite yourself into ang moh pple's groups cos they tend to cluster together so then i went home for dinner after that... koko is cooking bosch (don't know how to spell it) some beef stew tonight... dunno if it will be nice but i will give the brother a chance hahahaha and i bought some redoxon tablets(it is cheaper than effervescence ... 7.55 pounds for 40 tablets but i don't know if it is cheaper or more expensive than in singapore)ooopsy

oh ya, i think i will go to the strand campus to register with a school GP next monday and i will also try to open a bank account with Natwest next week(cos i think it has better deals than hsbc for international student... can you believe that they make us pay 5 pounds a month to set up an account? that is utter rubbish !!!! there will be my enrolment on thursday 21 nov in the guy's campus.

ok i will tell you more later if i have anything to say. i will go eat dinner later, then do some ironing, then pack and then settle my permit to enrol stuff and then go to bed. sigh lots of stuff in my mind... i am so sorry if i sound like i am wandering around :S

oh yahs... lorlee, don't get too stressed ok? just take it slow... don't put so much stress on yourself ks? i know you can do it :) don't care sbt the guys... sigh they just don't deserve your attention ...

i hate to say this but

the guys in my faculty are too smart and too mugger

they think nothing of spending their entire time on their work

and nothing else.

haha.

whereas the girls are the ones who get damn sick of law

and try to balance study with other activities

and the result is that the guys study disproportionately more than the girls hahahahaha

which results in STRESSING ME OUT!

anyway let me take the time to tell u guys bout the tagboard which is probably quite invisible except for the words... if u guys want to change it it's by tagworld or something like that so go to their website and log in with the username "208society" and password "theorangebook" kayz ^_^ and tag. please. it's there for a reason haha

ok now we're still waiting for the pics... which are probably going to take forever to upload so let's wait patiently and i'll upload one everyday/hour/2 hours or something... ^_^ also depending on how long this will take of course (the uploading i mean). and if another error comes up.. i'm giving up for today kayz haha sorry guys but yah haha... forgive me. please? ^_^

and i've just been notified that there's something wrong with the website so they've just contacted an engineer... so i guess we won't have pics today? sorry... really sorry.. i promise it'll be there once i can upload them kayz ^_^ so much for the title anyway haha

haha e title is just to inform you all tt e orange book is with me now! n vivian has stuff for all of us inside, so if you think you are going to meet me, please remind me to bring e book! =)

so what are we going to do with the real orange book? do we still write in it? but since i have it now, i'm going to! haha i prefer iris' idea of meeting up here n eating at food court or hawker centre! we are so evil (not to yong jeng for once =D)

ugh i'm in school now and my legs are aching like crazy. i went running yesterday evening.. can you believe it?! i haven't run since.. the week before yong jeng forgot about me HAHA :) so i'm having trouble walking down stairs and it's like step, grimace, step again, grimace some more..

The Orange Book- now online!

Hey dears it's Lorlee here! this is the orange book :) feel free to change the template...im not good at html so it's preferable if zengo changes it or something. but please choose a muted yellow-orange. i wont be able to stand looking at a bright orange background whilst reading your entries. :O
